A few days before we left we were informed that in Miama (where we were staying for 2 nights) it was Urban Week. Needless to say, it wasn't really our kind of scene. However, we managed to enjoy the beach, a nice meal or two, and we just didn't stay out that late at night. It worked out nicely because we woke up early one day and went to Shark Valley.
Shark Valley was defintely the highlight of our trip for me. It was an overcast day with an occasional light shower. The bike riding loop was very quiet and we saw MANY gators. I was actually amazed at how close they were to the path. The guides on the tram and at the bike rental shack commented to us on how rare this was. They had to chase one gator away from the restrooms! This was such an affordable excursion and so worth every penny. The entrace to the park was $10 and then we paid $15 to rent the bikes.
We also stayed a night in Coconut Grove at the Marriot in a studio room. We really liked this little town, it was quiet and quaint. It seemed very pet friendly and made me miss our pups very much.
