My mother in law has been making these for years. I recieved the recipe from her and everyone just loves them. I took them to my friend's barbecue and they were a big hit once again!

I have been told that you can substitute butter for the shortening, but I haven't tried it yet.

Cream Together
2/3 cup shortening
1 2/3 cup sugar

Add
2 eggs

Stir into mixture
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cloves
2/3 cups sour milk or buttermilk
1 1/4 cups mashed bananas (about 3)

Once all ingredients have been added beat well for an additional 2 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
Cool completely and ice with desired icing. I used buttercream.
